摘要:美国大学的教授治校本质上是教授对大学事务管理的民主参与。它成功运行的经验主要有:大学自治为教授治校创造了前提条件,终身教职制为教授治校提供了有力支撑,教授会是教授治校的组织保障,开明的校长是教授治校的重要推动者。我们从这些经验中能够得到如下启示:切实赋予大学充分的办学自主权,改革教师聘任制,健全教授委员会制度,提高大学校长对教授治校理念的认识。

Abstract:Faculty governance of American universities is essentially the professors' democratic participation in the management of university affairs. The following four factors contribute to its success: university autonomy creates preconditions, tenure system provides strong support, professor committee is the organizational guarantee, and open-minded principals are the important pushers. Some inspiration can be drawn from faculty governance of American universities: giving more autonomy in running a university, reforming the teacher appointment system, improving the professor committee system, and bettering principals' understanding of the concept——faculty governance.
