Abstract:  Objectives  Fractional slot permanent magnet machine FSPMM has been widely used in renewable energy generation and electric vehicles due to its small sizehigh power density and light weight.In order to further improve the electromagnetic performance of FSPMM  Methods  two interior V-shaped FSPMM with different armature winding structures were introducedwhich were 10-pole 12-slot double-layer star Y connection and 10-pole 12-slot four-layer star-delta Y-Δ connection windings.The 2-D finite element analysis models of the two FSPMM were established.Secondlythe rules of no-load performancetorque performance and efficiency of FSPMM under different winding structures and different rotor parameters were comprehensively analyzed.The research results showed that the four-layer Y-Δ connection was superior to the double-layer Y connection.Finallyin view of the characteristics of machine parameters and serious couplingthe Taguchi method was proposed to further optimize the rotor parameters of FSPMM with four-layer Y-Δ connectionwith torque fluctuationcogging torqueefficiency and no-load air gap flux density distortion rate as the optimization objectivespermanent magnet thicknessrotor yoke heightslot widthair gap lengthflux barrier width of the same magnetic poles and flux barrier width of the adjacent magnetic poles as the optimization factorsthus the optimal rotor parameters were obtained by analyzing the average and variance of the optimization objectives.Thenthe effectiveness of Taguchi method in the optimization design of interior FSPMM was verified by using the finite element method.   Results  The research results showed that after optimizationthe torque ripple was reduced by 20.24%the electromagnetic torque was increased by 5.85%the air-gap flux density distortion rate was reduced by 10.52%the cogging torque was reduced by 15.52%and the efficiency could reach 95.54%. Conclusions Compared to the original machineeach electromagnetic performance of the optimized FSPMM had been significantly improvedwhich verified the effectiveness of Taguchi method in the optimization design of interior FSPMM.
