Abstract: In order to further improve the axial bearing capacity and local buckling of concrete-filled steel tube ( CFST) column,the new square CFST columns constrained by bars through the perforated stiffener was proposed.On the basis of the experiment,the axial compressive behavior of square CFST short columns constrained by bars through the perforated stiffener was studied by numerical simulation.The axial compressive performance of the CFST short column constrained by bars was compared with the column only with the stiffener under the same condition,the square CFST short column was designed with the different width to thickness ratio of the stiffener.It was concluded that the square CFST short columns constrained by bars through the perforated stiffener had better bearing capacity and ductility than the column only with the stiffener.The distribution of deformation along the direction of height and cross section of the column was more uniform than the column only with stiffener.With the width to thickness ratio of the stiffener,the axial bearing capacity and ductility of the specimens showed an increasing trend.And the synergy between the stiffener and the bar was gradually enhanced.By comparing with the experimental results,it could be seen that the load-displacement curves fit the simulation and experimental results in the elastic rising section and the elastic-plastic rising section,and the difference of ultimate bearing capacity was less than 2% .The numerical simulation analysis of the square CFST columns constrained by bars through the perforated stiffener had important reference value for its application in engineering practice.
