Abstract:Hard roofs are common in the underground coalmines in the Jurassic coalfields in northern Shaanxi,China. The first weighting distance usually ranges from 40 m to 70 m,which is easy to induce dynamic disasters such as rock burst.By reviewing existing applications of the hydraulic fracturing technology used in Chinese coalmines,multi-level three-dimensional hydraulic fracturing was proposed to fracture the hard roof. The self-developed drilling-cutting integrated device was used to achieve efficient directional notch.Field test was conducted at the No.1313 working face of Weiqiang Coalmine of Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum Group.In-situ observations showed that after hydraulic fracturing, the first weighting distances of the immediate and the main roofs of the No.1313 working face were 9.6 m and 19.2 m,respectively. Moreover, the caved rocks of the main roof fully filled the goaf area. This highly reduced the possibility of the dynamic disasters due to the sudden collapse of the main roof. This technology could guide the management of hard roof in coalmines with similar geological conditions.
