Abstract:In order to understand the change trend of soil moisture of different land types in parts of Shaoguan city in the north of Guangdong ProvinceLandsat 8 related data were used to carry out the classification of land type and the monitoring and inversion of the soil moisture in the study area and the representative temperature vegetation drought index TVDI in each month of the year was obtained. The temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of soil moisture in the study area were described based on TVDIand combined with the classification of land typesthe annual changes of soil moisture in several land types were obtained. The results showed that the west side of the study area was relatively dry and the east side was relatively humidand during the yearit generally showed a cycle of decreasing to a certain extentkeeping stable for several monthsand then rising and keeping stable. Additionallyobvious changing trends of soil moisture of different land types could be found in the study. Specificallyfrom March to Octoberthe order of soil moisture from high to low was as followsforest landgrasslandand cultivated land.Howeverthe order from high to low in the rest of the time was as followsforest landcultivated landand grassland. The humidity of cultivated land or grassland was closely related to human factors and climate in the study area.
