Abstract: Objectives Post-grouting of pipe piles is a technical means that effectively improves the physical and mechanical properties of the pile-soil interface,playing a significant role in increasing the frictional resistance of pipe piles and reducing settlement of the upper structure. Methods Post-grouting technology,post-grouting theory,the bearing performance of pipe piles after grouting,and the shear performance of the soil-pile interface in pipe pile grouting are examined and the future development direction of post-grouting for pipe piles are explored in this article. Results (1) Post-grouting has a certain effect on improving the bearing capacity of small and medium-sized diameter pipe piles.After grouting,the bearing capacity of intermediate excavation method pipe piles generally exceeds 4 000 kN.Moreover,the bearing capacity of static drilling and planting bamboo joint piles can increase by over 20%,while the bearing capacity of drilling and pipe piles typically exceeds 20 000 kN.(2) The existing grouting theory has advanced the development of grouting technology.Despite disparities between relevant research findings and engineering practices,it offers a preliminary framework and scope for slurry diffusion.This furnishes scientific guidance for grouting design and engineering applications.(3) Most studies on the interface between pile slurry and soil rely on shear tests to examine the macroscopic behavior of this interface.However,they seldom delve into the macro and micro diffusion essence of grouting fluid extending into the soil in the form of grouting roots,claws,and capillary claws.Additionally,these studies rarely address the exchange of key ions with the soil to enhance the bond strength of the pile slurry-soil interface.(4) Current research on grouting primarily centers on analyzing grouting outcomes,with limited exploration of grouting mechanisms.Consequently,there's a lack of clear comprehension regarding the flow and diffusion laws of grout in the formation. Conclusions Visual analysis of the progressive flow process of grouting fluid along the pile side,quantitative characterization of the three-dimensional geometric dimensions of the grouting body,intelligent monitoring of the pipe pile grouting process,and the advancement of novel pipe pile side grouting techniques are crucial avenues for the future evolution of pipe pile side post-grouting.
