Abstract: [Objective] In order to effectively solve the problem of difficult control of surrounding rock in the shallow buried deep and high mining face of Shendong mining area due to high mining intensity, [Methods] the coupling relationship between mining support and surrounding rock in the high mining face was explained through theoretical analysis and on-site measurement, combined with the mechanical model of the overlying rock "masonry beam" in the mining area.  [Results] The mining pressure law, reasonable working resistance of the support and its applicability under special conditions in the mining area were studied. The results show that the self weight and rotational space of the fractured old roof rock mass and its accompanying rock mass have a significant impact on the dynamic load of the roof. The overall stiffness of the "direct roof, support, and bottom plate" can affect the location of the broken old roof, reducing the force and working time of the support under the pressure of the old roof; There is a coupling relationship between the support and surrounding rock, including stiffness, strength, and stability; [Conclusion] A three factor method based on the practical effect of the support is proposed to evaluate its applicability. Methods such as estimating the rock self weight, measuring the end of cycle working resistance of the support plus one time the mean square deviation, and transmitting rock beam theory are used to verify the working resistance of the support, and a reasonable working resistance of the support is obtained. Provide scientific guidance for the selection and applicability evaluation of brackets under similar conditions.
