Abstract：The Northern Song Dynasty was a significant transitional period of Chinese literary history with the people-oriented thought as its prominent characteristic. Of all the scholars, Ouyang xiu was the most representative one, which had a directive impact on his prose theory and writing. It also played an important role on the aesthetic style of prose in Northern Song Dynasty.
