Abstract：From the standpoint of Chinese fiction development with the concepts of modern novel, Luxun defined The Golden Lotus as an earthly work, which is ground-breaking.With the view of society and history, Luxun did a pioneering research on the reason of sex description in The Golden Lotus, but his comments on the sex description is mediocre.Luxun attributed the breaking traditional ideas and writing style in The Golden Lotus to A Dream of Red Mansions, which is partial.Luxun's judgment of the time of its first version is proved wrong, and his judgment of its author is indiscreet.
