Abstract：With the purpose of making large number of colleagues to understand the origin and status of gas-geology systematically, and to enlarge the affect of gas-geology in the fields related, based on the materials collected and studies conducted, such following personal opinions on the origin of concept, formation of gas-geology theory, development of gas-geology subject and the meaning of studying gas-geology were put forward.The paper describes the great contribution on the proposal of concept and theory's formation of gas-geology, which made by such elder pioneers in the field of coal mine safety as professor Yang Lisheng.The basic viewpoint of gas-geology and its theory were simply summarized.The paper mainly introduces in detail the status and achievements of gas-geology on such following aspects as research team construction, course, teaching material construction, talents culturing and training, which happened in Henan Polytechnic University.Finally, it describes the meaning of further study from three different aspects.
