Abstract：Though linguistic studies have long been influenced by other disciplines, Saussure, founder of modern linguistics, pioneers a new approach in the view of economics. He maintains that the linguistic study is similar to economic study in that both of them are a study of value. However, the Saussuran Theory of Linguistic Value is not a replica of economics, instead, it is a whole new theory based on language and its unique features. The Saussuran Theory of Linguistic Value, a powerful tool to analyze language, is a precious legacy of linguistics.
