Abstract：Based on rural social history, the relevant literatures, the inscriptions and the family tree collected in the field work, this paper discusses the change of a common village-Buchang village in Henei county, Henan province during the period of social crisis after being invaded by Taiping Army and Nian Army.This paper mainly describes the process that Wang's family became a powerful authority from a common family, such as, the strategies Wang's family adopted to cope with the crisis, how Wang's family established their authoritative status with the help of law system and cultural measures, how Wang's family consolidated their authoritative status through participating all kinds of local social activities, etc.
