Abstract:In order to explore the fracability characteristics of shalethe marine-continental transitional coal measure shale in the South North China Basin was taken as the research objectand the geological characteristics and fracability of Taiyuan Formation shale reservoir were comprehensively studied by drillingloggingmud logging and experimental test data.The results showed that Taiyuan Formation shale had the characteristics of low porositylow permeabilityhigh organic matter abundancegood brittlenesshigh Young’s modulusmedium Poisson’s ratiomoderate stress differenceand well-growth natural fracturesand also had the foundation of complex fractures formed by fracturing.The new brittleness indexes of shalesandstone and limestone decreased to different degrees with the largest decrease in limestone.The new method could more reasonably calculate the most real brittleness characteristics of shale.The best fracability section of Taiyuan Formation Well Y2 was the lower part of No.6 layer to the upper part of No.3 layerdepth from 2 862.32 m to 2 887.64 m),the CFI index was 45.26% to 64.65%average 56.44%which was higher than the evaluation standard of shale fracability50%.Vertical well staged fracturing was carried out in the above mentioned section of Well Y2the stable gas production of 3 614 m3/d was obtained after gas testingthis was 2 times higher than that of the adjacent well Y1.It indicated that the established fracability evaluation model could effectively guide the fracturing constructionand it had better engineering application value.
