Optimization design of La-Biochar composites by response surface methodology and its adsorption properties to As(Ⅲ)

Abstract:Taking the adsorption capacity of As(Ⅲ) as the index,the optimization of the preparation process of La-Biochar composites (La-B) was carried out by Box-Behnken Design(BBD) response surface methodology.The effects of La-B dosage and pH value were investigated,the adsorption kinetics and adsorption thermodynamics were also studied.The results showed that the optimal preparation conditions of La-B were:carbonization time of 120 min,material ratio of 30%,carbonization temperature of 750 ℃ and NaOH addition of 0.5 g.The optimum adsorption conditions of 20 mg/L As(Ⅲ) solution were obtained as follows:pH of 10 and adsorbent dosage of 0.1 g.The removal rate of As(Ⅲ) reached 99.01% under the optimal condition.In addition,the results of adsorption thermodynamics and adsorption kinetics experiments showed that the adsorption process could fit with Freundlich model and intra particle diffusion mode,separately.The thermodynamic parameters indicated that this adsorption was a spontaneous endothermic reaction at high temperature.
