Abstract:In order to separate CO2  from coalbed methane CBM and further to improve CBM utilization,a series of coal-based active porous carbon APC-1 ,APC-2 and APC-4 were prepared by adjusting the activation intensity of KOH to anthracite.According to characterization of scanning electron microscopy,KOH activation had an erosive effect on the surface of anthracite and could form developed pore structure.The high specific surface area993 1 615 cm2/g and total pore volume0.48 0.8 cm3/g of coal-based active porous carbon could be analyzed by nitrogen adsorption isotherm measurement.The adsorption capacity of APC-2 for CO2 and CH4 could be up to 3.49 and 1.59  mmol/g,respectively,at 298 K and 100 kPa.Being predicted by idea adsorption solution theory,the adsorption selectivity of APC-4 for equimolar binary gas CO2/ CH4 could reach 4.57.This synthesis process was simple for coal-based active porous carbon preparation,which could provide a wide application prospect in separating  CO2  from CBM and improving CBM utilization.
