Theory and verification of straight profile variable-depth cutting forextra large straight bevel gear

Abstract:In order to realize the high quality and high efficiency machining of extra large straight bevel gear, the theory of variable-depth machining with straight profile was put forward for the large straight bevel gear. That was to say, the traditional involute tooth surface of gear was replaced by the straight tooth surface. Based on the principle of single-cutter and double -face cutting of straight bevel gear, the design of straight-profile finger-shaped milling cutter was carried out. By analyzing the change of cutting depth and tooth profile, the function relation of cutting depth along the direction of tooth length was obtained, and the tooth surface equation of large gear in the process of straightprofile variable depth cutting was deduced. On this basis, the tooth surface equation of the fully conjugate meshing pinion was deduced, and the tooth surface of the pinion was topologically modified. Taking a pair of extra large straight bevel gears as an example, the meshing analysis of machining and modification was carried out. Finally, the validity and feasibility of the theory of straight profile variabledepth cutting were proved by rolling experiments.
