Abstract：The beds in Jin Ping Mei Novel do not just represent a furniture, they have symbolic meanings. Love and emotions reflected by the beds imply the folk tradition and customs in the Mid-Ming dynasty which characterized by indulging in love and emotions. To Xi Menqing, love and emotions in the beds are means of gaining money, eroticism in the beds are means of giving and receiving bribes, selling official positions and getting promotion. Luxurious beds are challenges to the social hierarchy system made by Xi Menqing who represented new businessmen at that time. The beds in Jin Ping Mei Novel looks like simple and clean beds, they are not simple and clean actually.
