Abstract：Ever since the mid-Ming dynasty, the living state of grassroots scholars of Shandong province had undergone significant changes due to the impact of commodity economy and expansion of this group.Their different educational background, family background, ways of coping with pressure of survival, and choices of different life all contribute to the diversified development of the living state of grassroots scholars. As a novel with the set of Shandong province during Ming and Qing dynasty, Marriage Stories to Awaken Men provides vivid and concrete historical records for studies of the living state of grassroots scholars of Shandong province at that time.
