Abstract：As an increasingly popular form of mass culture, American TV serials have been spreading rapidly from the U.S. to China via the Internet, which have promoted intercultural communication between the West and the East by all means. When it comes to translating subtitles of American TV serials, all kinds of limitations resulting from the art form itself have to be taken into account. Besides, the translator has to convey the intertextual references, which are between the lines in the original so as to broaden Chinese audience's view.
