Abstract：In the past 100 years, leaders of Henan Polytechnic University (HPU, thereafter) have been running HPU in accordance with the concept of "Talent Cultivation-Oriented, Science-Advocated".From the very beginning, leaders of HPU emphasized the combination of theory and practice in order to cultivate excellent mining talents;since the foundation of New China, leaders of HPU paid more attentions to students' rudimentary knowledge, basic theories and fundamental skills so as to cultivate qualified socialist engineers;in 21st century, "New System for Undergraduate Education" becomes a unique feature of HPU, which ushered a new era of talent cultivation especially for our nation's energy industry and local economy.
