On the beginning year of the contact between Liu-Liu and Yuan-Bai

Abstract：For the beginning year of the contact between Liu Yuxi-Liu Zongyuan and Yuan Chen-Bai Juyi, the academic world just ignores or avoids it. If it is inevitable, they would say there is no evidence for the early contact between them, like Zhu Jincheng, Bian Xiaoxuan, Tao Min or Shi Ziyu, who wrote chronicles or made commentary and annotation for these poets. In fact, a careful study of the personal relations in this period shows that the contact between Liu-Liu and Yuan-Bai began in the year of Zhenyuan 19 th (803 AD) . Thus, we can better understand the complicated personal relations in the period of Zhen-yuan, Yongzhen and Yuanhe, especially the early political attitude of Yuan and Bai, leading to a new position and reflection.
