Abstract: Based on the theory of plate and shell and the theory of fracture mechanicsthe fracture model of the floor after water-inrush from the hidden collapse column was established The crack propagation mechanism of the base plate with cracks was studiedand the internal stress distribution and the crack stress intensity factor of the floor were obtained The results showed that the stress in the bottom plate was related negatively to the thickness of the bottom plateand positively to the position of the middle surfaceradius and water pressure With the increase of the thickness and the decrease of the crack length and the radius of the bottom platethe crack was more difficult to propagate Based on the theoretical resultsthe floor breaking mechanism of “2· 18”water inrush accident in Zhangji coal mine was analyzedand the analysis results were consistent with the scene
