Experimental study on abrasive water jet cutting medium granular sandstone under new mixed abrasive method

Abstract:By comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the two kinds of abrasive water jet cutting methods ,the cutting method of first mixing abrasive and then pressurizing was proposed. In order to study the factors affecting the cutting ability of the mixed abrasive method ,the orthogonal experiment was applied with the medi- um grained sandstone as the cutting object. Based on the analysis of orthogonal test results, it was concluded that the main factors affecting the cutting ability of the mixed abrasive water jet were cutting speed,cutting pressure and the diameter of the cutting nozzle, and the weights of the factors in descending order were cutting speed, cutting pressure and the diameter of the cutting nozzle. Under the condition that the mass ratio of abrasive and water was 1:8 and the cutting target distance was 30 mm, the cutting speed was l mm/s,the cutting pressure was 50 MPa and the diameter of the cutting nozzle was 1.5 mm, the cutting ability could achieve the goal of optimizing performance. The experimental results could provide theoretical support and parameter setting reference for the future application of the mixed abrasive water jet cutting system in the coal industry.
