Ethical Standards


In order to improve the publication quality of Journal of Henan Polytechnic University (Natural Science) and to enhance the professional ethics of journal reviewers, authors, and the publisher, we designed the guidelines below based on domestic and international publishing ethics standards and the actual situation of this journal.

1. Publishing Ethics of Reviewers

1.1 All reviewers are recognized experts in relevant domain, holding the title of associate professor or above, with a strong sense of responsibility, fairness, justice and contribution.

1.2 All reviewers are willing to disclose their names, institutions, positions, contact information, and other information on the journal's website.

1.3 All reviewers should uphold a fair evaluation, respect innovation, and make every effort to give fair evaluation on the significance, innovation, writing quality, and rationality of manuscripts. They should also respect the author's independent viewpoint and passion for scientific research and innovation, and avoid prejudice, racial discrimination, and personal attack.

1.4 All reviewers should review manuscripts using their professional knowledge. Reviewing is pivotal for academic research and it is scholars’ responsibility and obligation to participate in peer review. Therefore, reviewers should make every effort to fulfill their review job in a timely manner. If they cannot complete the review in time, they should inform the editorial office and recommend other reviewers, or apply to postpone the review deadline with an explanation.

1.5 All review evaluations should be objective and grounded. Reviewers should fully consider the limitation of individual knowledge, and try to explain the review comments by argumentations and citations. If necessary, they should provide literature materials and facts on which the evaluation is based. In this way, they can guarantee review objectivity and help editors and authors better understand the review comment. Subjective evaluation and personal attack are not allowed.  

1.6 All reviewers should proactively avoid manuscripts with conflicts of interest. For manuscripts written by friends, relatives, or colleagues of reviewers, they should proactively inform the editorial office and avoid processing those manuscripts.

1.7 All reviewers are not allowed to make use of the review for personal interests. For points where authors are not aware of or have not expressed clearly, proper revision suggestions should be given.

1.8 All reviewers shall keep the materials under review confidential before publishing and shall not disclose any content of unpublished articles.

1.9 If reviewers discover a suspected misconduct during the review process, whether it is about the data or research methods, they should inform the editorial office to stop publishing the manuscript.

2. Author's Publishing Ethics

2.1 Scientific papers should be written accurately and objectively. The primary purpose of scientific publication is to report results objectively. Therefore, it is important to ensure the accuracy of the results description, which shall be discussed in a truthful manner. Omissions and exaggeration should be avoided. The original research report should include necessary details or publicly available resources, such as experiments and equipment data, to facilitate replication of the research process and validation of research results.

2.2 Those named as authors should have made significant contributions to the research. Improper authorship is not allowed. The contribution of each author should be described in Authors Statement Form, which shall be submitted to the editorial office.

2.3 After publication, all authors are obliged to cooperate with the journal to make corrections or retractions.

2.4 References listed should be read by the authors in person and shall be relevant to the research in this article.

2.5 It is prohibited for authors to submit the same paper to multiple journals simultaneously. Redundant publishing is strictly prohibited. Once multiple submission or redundant publishing is found, the manuscript will be rejected.

2.6 Authors should provide supporting information of funding project. Falsification is prohibited.

2.7 Authors should guarantee that the paper is an original work and there is no plagiarism, or the manuscript will be rejected.

2.8 Authors should disclose any competing interest in Authors Statement Form and submit it to the editorial office. Even if there is no conflict of interest, it should be stated that “there is no competing interests”.

3 Publishing Ethics of Publishers

3.1 All received manuscripts are registered, and there is no fee to be charged during the review process. Once accepted, a publication fee of 500 yuan (RMB) per article will be charged. The remuneration will be paid after publication.

3.2 All manuscripts will be tested by the plagiarism detection system developed by CNKI. If the repetition rate exceeds 10%, the manuscript will be returned for revision or rejected.

3.3 The acceptance rate of the journal is about 15%. Accepted manuscripts must be original works with outstanding innovation or application value at a leading level in China.

3.4 If other readers/authors/reviewers accuse an author of academic misconduct, the editorial office will conduct an investigation. If the situation is true, a penalty on the author could be imposed.

3.5 If the editorial office/readers/reviewers discover mistakes or academic misconduct in a published paper, the editorial office will proactively contact the author for correction or retraction. A penalty on the author could be imposed.

3.6 Once a paper is accepted, the copyright and related property rights of the article will be transferred to the Editorial Office of Journal of Henan Polytechnic University (Natural Science), including but not limited to the following rights: compilation right, distribution right, reproduction right, translation right, online publishing and information dissemination right, etc.

3.7 All authors can obtain free print and electronic samples from the editorial office.

3.8 Authors are required to keep an electronic copy of their manuscript. Once accepted, the manuscript will be published. If not accepted, the editorial office will archive and store the full text but will not disclose the research content of non-accepted manuscripts. The material will be confidential.

3.9 Manuscripts accepted after three rounds of review shall be published in the journal, and shall be published online before the print journal.

3.10 The journal does not publish commercial advertisement.
