Abstract：Liu Zongzhou was not only a famous scholar but also an important poet in late Ming dynasty.Liu Zongzhou's poetic spirit of seeking the truth reflects the return to traditional Confucian poetics. Liu's poetry advocates loyalty and integrity, which is alienated from the vulgar tone in late Ming dynasty, therefore of high aesthetic values. Liu's proposal of sincerity not only made outstanding contributions to reversing ethos in the east Zhejiang and reviving the filial piety, but also prompted transforming the poetry style of the east Zhejiang from advocating individuality into righteousness. Liu Zongzhou made great achievements both in literature and in philosophy.
