A comprehensive control method for wind power and pumped storage in the frequency regulation of microgrid

Abstract:The use of multi-source and distributed energy increases the uncertainty of load frequency control in the microgrid and has a negative impact on its safe operation.For this,a comprehensive control method for wind power and pumped storage in the frequency regulation of microgrid was proposed in this paper.Firstly,in order to provide sufficient power support when load disturbance occurred in microgrid,the limited torque control method was applied to extract the rotor kinetic energy of wind turbine in the primary frequency regulation.Secondly,in order to solve the problem of secondary frequency drop caused by limit torque control,the pumped storage system was implemented to reduce the adverse effect on the frequency stability by the auxiliary support.On the basis of them,considering the inconsistency between the output of wind turbine and load disturbance,and the narrow restriction of the wind power output adjustment range,the pumped storage control strategy with the secondary frequency regulation was designed.The proposed method could remove the steady-state frequency deviation resulted by mismatch between the wind speed and load disturbance by timely switching pumping condition and power generation condition.Finally,the proposed method was simulated in MATLAB/Simulink,the results showed that the comprehensive control method of wind power and pumped storage could realize the completeness of frequency regulation and reduce the wind abandonment rate under different wind speed and load disturbance.
