Abstract:In order to obtain the effects of mixing amount of red mud on compressive strength , radiation and economic of concrete , compressive strength and radioactivity of 45 cubic concrete specimens were tested with some red mud inside respectively as cementitious material. The red mud replacement rates were 0 ,5% , 10% ,15% ,20% , respectly, the hydration ages were 3 ,28 ,90 d. Based on experiments and combined with engineering cases , the economy was analyzed. The compressive strength , radioactivity index and engineering quantity of concrete with different red mud replacement rates and different hydration ages were obtained. With the increase of the red mud replacement rate , the cubic compressive strength of the concrete increased firstly and then de-creased compared with normal concrete with the same hydration age , and the radioactive specific activity of 266Ra,232Th and 40K in the concrete strengthened. With the increase of hydration age , the compressive strength increased , both inside and outside exposure index and the total specific activity increased as well, but the in crease was not too large. In general, the hydration age had little effect on the radioactivity of red mud concrete. The concrete mixed red mud had good economic results.
