Preparation and properties study of melamine foam with high oil absorbability

Abstract:Utilization of the high temperature of ethanol flame , reduced graphene oxide ( rGO ) coated melamine (MF-G) form were prepared via the reduction of graphene oxide to rGO by ethanol flame. The surface properties ,pore structure, mechanical property and adsorption performance were investigated by contact angle, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, universal testing machine and adsorption experiments. MF-G foam not only had high porosity and mechanical stability, but also exhibited superhydrophobicity, and the contact angle of water on the foam surface could reach 148°; MF-G foam had an excellent adsorption capacity for oil and organic solvents, and could be used for oil/water separation with high efficiency. The simple preparation method, high oil absorption and effective oil/water separation of MF-G foam made it expect to have a wide range of applications in the field of water treatment.
