Abstract：The Cultivation of innovative talent in higher education is a hot topic of modern society. Based on the exploration and practice of cultivating geological engineering undergraduate majors as the innovative talents, the present paper provides four methods for the actual cultivation of innovative talents as follows: changing concept; improving teaching methods; strengthening practical training; optimizing educational environment. It is hoped that the present paper can implicate a lot to cultivating innovative the geological engineering majors and all the students in universities.
