Abstract：Gaze is a way of looking interwoven with power and desire.The criticism about gaze has become a powerful weapon for the cultural critics to criticize visual centrism, patriarchal centrism and racism.The descriptions of gaze in Kate Chopin's Desiree's Baby contain both racial and sexual politics.The blacks and women become the targets of the whites' and men's gaze, and are oppressed by "the eye of power".
