中国英语专业学位论文词块结构与功能特征分析

摘要:基于Hyland学术词块结构与功能框架,通过对中国英语专业硕士学位论文和国际期刊论文词块结构与功能对比分析得出:总体上,学位论文平均句长短于国际期刊,句子复杂程度略低;结构上,中国硕士生更加重视发现意义关联性和解释性,但在内容陈述、抽象概念描述方面,不如国际学者手段灵活多样;功能上,中国硕士生注重描述环境因素,善于表达语篇关系,努力寻求与读者共鸣,而对研究数据及内容挖掘和解释不足,同时也缺乏表达个人态度或立场。通过对高频四词词块结构与功能系统量化的研究,依事实出数据,依数据找结果,依结果析结论,所得结论可靠,对提高学生的学术交流能力和辅助EAP教学有一定指导意义。

Abstract:Based on the Hyland's structural and functional framework of 4-word bundles, this paper explores the structural and functional features between English majors' dissertations and international journal papers. The findings show that in general, the mean sentence length of students' dissertations was shorter than that of international journal papers. In structural aspect, students paid more attention to meaning correlation and explanation, while international scholars were more experienced and flexible on statement and abstract description. In functional aspect, students laid more emphasis on the description of environment, but not good at data mining and explanation and also personal standpoints. Based on real language material, the findings also have an implication for the improvement of EAP and academic communication ability.
