Trace fossils from Yunmengshan Formation (Ruyang Group) of Lushan County, Henan Province

Abstract：Trace fossils are discovered from the Middle Proterozoic Yunmengshan Formation in Lushan County, Henan Province. They include horizontal feeding burrows Planolites, horizontal trails Dydimaulichnus and inclining dwelling burrows Palaeophycus. Palaeophycus may be the oldest dwelling burrows in the world. The occurrence of these dwelling burrows may present a new way for metazoa to better suit to the lifes environments.
