Abstract：As a prevailing epic in ancient Greek, Odyssey involves a distinct grand narrative, which, with complex plots and role interaction, reflects the philosophical intentionality in the epic creation during the Homeric Age, enabling readers to contemplate the meaning conveyed in the text and sense various intentionality space on diverse narrative levels. This paper, based on the Chinese version translated and annotated by Cheng Zhongmei, is to explore the intentionality space implied in the narrating from the perspective of readers, demonstrate Odysseus' loss of identity in the course of returning home and reconstruction of living space for being a man, freedom space for heroic pursuits, and echoing space between nature, god and men.
