Abstract：The love affair of Ximen Qing and Song Huilian is an important chapter of The Golden Lotus.There are several conflicts in the story, which ends with Laiwang's ( Song's husband) being set up and Song's suicide with humiliation and anger. The main reasons for her suicide are her personality and the intricate contradiction in Ximen Qing's family. In a sense, Ximen Qing is the murderer of Song, while Pan Jinlian is the accomplice.
