Abstract：Generally, non-restrictive attributive clauses in modern Japanese complex sentences signify additional information to the main clause, rather than interrogation. However, Masuoka argues that the latter ones do exist, which are called “Zyututeitekisoutei”. Based on this view, this paper further elaborates that some non-restrictive attributive clauses of the former type also signify interrogation with the grammatical function of describing present events.
