Huazhou and Yichengjun in the mid-late Tang Dynasty

Abstract：Yichengjun was a vassal town established in Henan Province after the An-shi Rebellion, with usually Zhengzhou and Huazhou as its territory and Huazhou as the capital. Linghu Zhang defected to the Tang Dynasty in the late period of the An-shi Rebellion and maintained the authority of the Tang central government during the period of power transfer. Therefore, Huahang town was named Yongping during the reign of the Emperor Daizong, which was the first vassal town in Henan to be named by the central government and was politically close to the central government. In the late Dali period, because of its outstanding performance in pacifying the rebellion of Li Lingyao, it led seven areas, reaching its peak. Since the Chaos of Four Towns in the period of Tangdezong, the territory of Yicheng town began to decrease and was finally fixed as the two areas of Zhengzhou and Huazhou, no longer the only agent of the central government in Henan region. In the period of Tangdezong, Yongping was changed to Yicheng. In the most time of late Tang Dynasty, Yicheng town was still trusted by the central government, and played its role in controlling the disobedient towns.
