Abstract：The Catcher in the Rye,as the representative work of the American writer Salinger,is regarded as one of the modern classic novels,and it has a profound impact on American society and the 20 th century literary. Salinger not only succeeds in molding the rebellious character Holden,but also records his language vividly. In this essay,the author analyzes the characteristic of Holden's language from the perspective of sociolinguistics,appreciates the characters in the novel from the angle of watching and redemption and interprets its literary meaning in order to help people understand the theme and practical significance of the novel.
