Abstract：This paper tries to prove the fundamental cause of the western critics' and readers' controversy about Amy Tan's Saving Fish from Drowning. The ultimate explanation for the controversy, as will be discussed in this paper, is Amy Tan's deconstruction of the “white supremacy”. By using the resistant strategy of mimicry, Amy Tan not only subverted the western traditional gender discourse, but also converted the power and cultural hegemony relationship between the west and the east sardonically.
