摘要:现代性不仅意味人类史上的变革和进步,也意味着人类的沉沦和异化。其客观实在性落到现实则体现为启蒙现代性和审美现代性的对立和矛盾。安德森的《小城畸人》讲述了幽闭丑陋的小镇上抽象、异化的"畸人"们的奇特遭遇。小说摆脱了传统美学范畴和规范的教条,抛弃"和谐与美"的审美核心概念,结合现代人的异化经验,对工业文明和启蒙理性的污秽进行了令人震惊的呈现,彰显了现代生活的困境和启蒙现代性与审美现代性之间的张力。

Abstract:Modernity is a paradoxical concept which not merely denotes radical transformation and progress in modern society, but degeneration and alienation of human beings in modern age. In reality, modernity is logically characterized by the tensions and contradictions between enlightened modernity and aesthetic modernity. Anderson's Winesburg, Ohio depicts vividly the distorted and alienated grotesques who struggle through their lives in the provincial town. In the novel Anderson liberates himself from the fundamental aesthetic ideal: praise of harmony and beauty. The novel aims at disclosing the dark side effected by industrialization and rationalization in enlightened era, in which the predicaments of human beings and the conflicts between enlightened modernity and aesthetic modernity are emphasized.
