A preliminary exploration on the group-based terrorist attacks

Abstract：The frequent terrorist attacks in recent years have made the fight against terrorism a phrased task for the current international community. In addition to the lone wolf and the coordinated terrorist attacks, the group-based terrorist attack is another mode of terrorist attacks, which has a great impact on the society and is used to organize terrorist resources, propagate the ideology of terrorism and gain some benefits for terrorist organizations. By comparing and analyzing a large number of cases, this paper finds that group-based terrorist attacks share many common features on the attack subject, object and means with other types of attacks. These features constitute a general pattern of the group-based terrorist attacks, and recognizing this pattern has important implication for preventing and controlling the group-based terrorist attacks.
